Singing

For some, singing can be scary. Not in our school! Our aim is to build our students’ confidence in singing in a safe and supportive environment. Our students learn a wide variety of songs, from well-known musical theatre numbers to pop songs, whilst learning all about musical structure.

We recognise our singers are young and may not know how important it is to look after their voice. We ensure we teach the importance of safe vocal practice by teaching our students the correct way in which sound is produced and how to adapt that sound to sing confidently in different musical styles.
It is important to learn how to deliver the song. This is where we teach ‘Acting Through Song’: We teach our students to engage both the text and sound, ensuring they deliver the message of the song.

Dance

Our students develop their dance technique every week through a warm up designed to condition the body to be strong and safe, and by learning the choreography and staging for a variety of genres. Our students do not take exams in this class, however we do teach the importance of technique, while choregraphing exciting and fun dance routines.

Drama

With the drama element, your child will never be scared to stand up in-front of their class to deliver a homework project again! We will help your child to grow into a confident public speaker. We teach the importance of the emotion behind the text, creating natural and exciting performers. We spend a lot of time on drama games, which is a great way to build trust amongst class members. We work with original text and enjoy creating our own work through improvisation.
